These are the products I use when I’m out on the San Marcos River or fishing in lakes or ponds.
Yamamoto 5″ Green Pumpkin/Watermelon Worm Stickbait
The absolute BEST worm / stickbait on the market!!! The salt content makes this a fish magnet especially when paired with the San Marcos Rig technique.
St. Croix Triumph Casting Rod Medium / Heavy / Fast
My favorite Rod! This has been sensitive enough of feel small bites and strong enough to land solid 9lb+ bass and catch tons of fish of all sizes.
Shimano Curado DC
My go to reel. It’s a little more expensive, but has great adjustability and can cast a weightless lure with ease. The settings are easy to adust which is a must on windy days.
Berkley Trilene 15lb
This monofilament line is reliable, strong, and can handle the everchanging landscape of a river.
Astral Water Shoes
The water shoe you need. Astral continues to impress with these shoes. After a full year of fishing they are still holding strong and are ready for a couple more seasons. The entire shoe is still in great shape and near new condition even after being used on some hard and sharp river bottoms.
Astral, E-Ronny Life Jacket PFD
You need a life jacket you can 100% trust. Astral is the brand that has earned its stripes over the past year with a couple of unexpected flipping events. It’s comfortable, breathable, and can be worn all day long even in the 100 degree heat of Central Texas.
KastKing Sol Armis Sun Gloves UPF50+
Protect your hands from the sun. Spending time on the water is my favorite activity. At the same time, you have to be safe and protect your skin. These gloves are great for kayaking and fishing while also offereing protection from the sun’s harmful rays.
JOTO Floating Waterproof Phone Holder Pouch
Water and your phone don’t mix. The JOTO case will protect your phone from the accidental plunge into the water and will also keep it floating so you can find it.
KastKing Cutthroat 7 inch Fishing Pliers
Fishing pliers are necessary, especially when a fish gets a little too aggressive when they go after a lure. A good stainless stell pair of pliers will last you a long time and not rust even under constant use conditions.
UCEC Fishing Hooks, 100pcs/box Offset
Hooks come in all shapes and sizes. The 1 and 1/0 are our favorite. I like the thickness of the gauge and the eyelet facing out instead of sideways. This has been the only hook I’ve used and it has served me well.
PLUSINNO Floating Fishing Net
Your fishing net helps you land the ones you don’t want to lose. Rubber coated netting helps protect the fishes eyes and body from damage that can be caused by other net material. The bigger added bonus, it floats! Even if you drop it in the water, you can find it.
Favofit Locking Carabiner Clips, 4 Pack
These carabiners can get wet, sit in the sun, get used over and over and still function like when they were purchased. A four pack is the perfect to get started.
Booms Fishing T02 Fishing Lanyard
Lanyard everything! Your phone case, your fishing net, your tacklebox etc… These lanyards are strong, easy to to attach and detach and are sturdy even with repeated sun, water, and heat exposure.
RoomyRoc Mesh Laundry Bag
Mesh bags are the best way to store your water shoes. In Texas there are some hard stinging critters. These bags keep the critters out and let your wet shoes dry outside. I learned the hard way after getting stung on my hand by a scorpion when, get this, checking my shoes for scorpions!
NRS 12′ Tie Down Straps
Perfect for strapping your kayaking on your truck bed or however you transport it. These straps pull tighten by hand and hold but will NOT damage your kayak like an over tightened ratchet strap can. I have four and use them all the time!
